Well, Vic Falls...amazing! Its a small town based totally for back packers and overlanders, we had 3 nights. First night was a group meal down at a local game restaurant, having kudu (big antelope thing) and ostrich (big daft bird thing) and chips of course, no gravy though! and the best beer so far...zambezi...named after the river!
all the beers are named after places actually..serengeti lager, kilimanjaro lager, windhoek (the capital of namibia) and zambezi! i have been collecting the labels...is that sad?
anyway, had the emal then went down to the casino with our driver and a couple of others, played blackjack...and lost! but it was only zimbabwe monry which is about as valuable as monopoly money and as much use in any other country as bog roll. you cant excahge it anywhere so you have to spend it in casinos..shame! its the law!
next day we went to the falls themselves and got absolutely soaked! looking over the edge was amazing though, 10 million gallons of water per day fall over the edge but it is neith the highest or widest in the world..just the most stunning! I had booked a sky dive for that afternoon so i was nervous all morning but (mum you will be pleased to know) it was cancelled because ti started rainign when we got to the airport, so that afternoon was spent in vic falls airport cafe. wow! nice airport though if you like airports!! that eve was last with the group from the last 6 weeks so had quite a bigh night with them in the bar then got up at 6 to see them all off!
next day we met the new group for the final 3 weeek leg down to cape town. a much smaller group and not as many characters and generally more boring bunch but never mind!@ the last lot were great but it shows this type of trip is all about the people and much as the places you go to! so had a meal with those lot that night before hitting the road again the next day out of vic into botswana......
