The Reasonably Planned Hannay Tour 2008 travel blog

We were so lucky with the weather today on Hong Kong Island, the tour guide said it was the first fine clear day they had had in the last 2 weeks. When we left @ 8am the weather still looked misty but as we climbed Victoria Peak the mist lifted. Quite an amazing view over Hong Kong with new buildings in alot of directions.

On the way down stopped @ Stanley Street markets some nice stalls better than the Night Markets but a little more expensive. Some nice local artworks but like alot of the time on tour you don't have the luxury of spending the time you'd like too. @ times it's all a bit of a rush which I find particularly annoying.

Got the bus to drop us off so we could walk thru Causeway Bay & find Island Beverley & finally 'Shoe Street' - Lockhart Street. Shop after shop of shoes. Now we know where all the shoes come from in No1 Shoes in NZ!

Today was aPublic Holiday & the 11th Anniversary of Independence from British Rule. Saw protest tables & a 'Huge March for Democracy' to break away from China & it's poor treatment of people down one of the main streets. Was surprised @ how big it was.

Got the ferry back to Kowloon.
