We stayed a few days at the beautiful Catalina state park, recovering from the long drive and picking sand out of our teeth.

The park looked different from our earlier stay as the trees were fully cloaked in leaf and the birds were busy nesting. They were unafraid of campers and came to within a few feet of where I was sitting.

Fully refreshed we reluctantly took our leave and headed home. The scenery had changed somewhat from our outbound trip. Different plants were in bloom and the palo verde colored the landscape different shades of yellow.

Our timing for driving towards San Diego was perfect as we got home in the early afternoon and avoided most of the traffic.
