Stone Mountain GA May 16, 2008

Today we didn’t do much. We didn’t want to drive back in toward Atlanta because of the traffic. It was so pretty where we were that we decided to have a slow down day. We used the morning to catch up on some things that needed to be done. We ate lunch by the lake with a view of Stone Mountain. After lunch we went to ride the tram to the top of Stone Mountain. Stone Mountain is a huge rock of solid granite. On the side is a carving of Robert E Lee, Jefferson Davis and Stonewall Jackson on their horses. Once you get to the top, you can walk around on the mountain and if it is clear, there is a great view of Atlanta and the Stone Mountain area. It was pretty cloudy and windy up there, but it was still a nice view. It was too bad we couldn't spend more time in this place, but we have to leave tomorrow.
