The hiking trail back down the mountain.

Chimney Rock is one of two huge rock formations we want to see and tour. This one is a NC state park. It is located south of Asheville about 28 miles. The town of Chimney Rock is a popular tourist destination for cityfied people. The drive there is fabulous, slow and scenic. We wanted to treat Bambi to a new experience however that meant Chewy had to stay home. Bambi hiked like a trooper, though Dave did carry most of the way up the steep and lengthy stair climb upto the top of Chimney Rock. When you get to the top of the climb there is a store, gift shop where you can get a simple lunch and trinkets. But we also found outside a musician, John Mason who was playing his hammered dulcimer. We really liked the sound, he made it look easy but we're assured it's not.

After climbing the rock and lunch we came down the hill then hiked back to Hickory Nut falls. It was a much easier walk and Bambi was in heaven. Being a border collie/maltese mix she loves to walk/work, the more the merrier for her.
