|Left Granada today and took a long bus ride and a ferry to Ometepe island, Nicaragua. I have to say that I wasn't really impressed because it was in the middle of nowhere, it was dirty, very rural and full of flies and mosquitos. We arrived and checked into the hotel. Lake Nicaragua is impressive and is the largest in Central America. It is the only freshwater lake in the world that has bullsharks.
The beach in front of the hotel that goes to the lake had black sand, which was pretty cool. The lake is so big, there are even waves...just like the ocean. The island contains two volcanoes, one active and one inactive.
We chilled for the evening on the beach and made decisions about what we wanted to do tomorrow. Then it was an early night to bed for me.
