Central American Adventure 2008 travel blog

Was at the dive shop in Utila at 7am again this morning. I passed all my exams/tests yesterday with flying colors, so all I had to do was complete my final two Open Water dives today. Both dives went off without a hitch. They were more challenging than the last two, but were both fun. I saw a HUGE barracuda and actually took a few pictures underwater!

So I am now a PADI Open Water certified diver!

We almost got stuck in Utila due to the weather. The ferry back to the mainland wasn´t going to run due to the really choppy waters and windy conditions today. They decided to run it and we had to practically run to catch the ferry at a moment's notice. But we all made it on and were able to meet our driver and get on our way to Tegucigalpa. It took 10 hours of driving, but we made it to the hotel around midnight.

Everyone was so exhausted from the long trip and tomorrow´s trip is equally as long (including the border crossing into Nicaragua - the only one I´ve been worried about), so we all just crashed so that we could be up to leave at 6am tomorrow morning. It is just as well because Chimi says that Tegucigalpa is so dangerous, even he wouldn´t think about walking around after dark (even in a group).
