Amphorae

Bodrum castle

We made the trip to Bodrum solely for visiting the Museum of Underwater Archeology. The museum is housed in a castle built during the 15th century. The museum has the biggest collection of amphorae in the word. Amphorae are large clay canisters used for transporting wine, olive oil, fish, etc. Some of the amphorae displayed in the museum have been dated back to 14th century BC. Along with the amphorae, the museum showed how the shipwrecks were excavated. The castle also made for good time wandering about, checking out the dungeon and taking in the great views of Bodrum.
