| WOW, WOW, WOW! I just got back from Phantom of the Opera. I have never been to an opera before, but have wanted to since I was a teenager. It was one of the things on my list of “things to do before I die,” (like this holiday). I LOVED it! The whole opera house was used as the stage in many acts. There was a massive chandelier over our heads that broke into three large pieces and came (almost) crashing down on us. The phantom came out of parts of the ceiling, there were flames, fireworks, scenery changes that were unbelievable (to me) and on top of it, they were great performers with a wonderful story. I didn’t expect it to be so detailed; and so magical. I could stay in Vegas and watch a different show every night for a month. I love this place! The Phantom was in the Venetian. It was my first time in that hotel. It has a magnificent moat in it with gondola rides offered. The ceiling is done up like the most beautiful day sky, and nicely bright too. I went through many shops and thoroughly enjoyed myself, as I did not have to keep my eye on any little reaching fingers. I had 5 hours to myself on the strip and I want more! We are definitely coming back someday. Okay, enough about my night . . . . we did the Hoover Dam today. It was much more than I expected. Humm, I’m noticing a theme here . . . . I don’t expect much and get pleasantly surprised almost every day. We did the generator tour of the dam and we learned about when the dam was made, why, how and with what. Then they take you down these rock shafts and eventually to this big generator room. It was interesting. Then we went on top of it (and to the observation deck). We also got to see the bridge they are building in front of it. The kids thought it was okay. They just wanted to go swimming again. The weather is so nice here. It’s perfect temperature all the time. The wind kicked up again this evening, but it too is warm. Tomorrow is our last day here and off to Anaheim. I didn’t expect there to be so much here. I’m glad we had this much time to enjoy it. |
