Hummingbirds & Cave tours
May 1, 2008
|Yesterday was a wonderful day with lots of sunshine and warm temperatures. Marilyn & I enjoyed having our coffee with some windows open and looked forward to taking a walk around the campground. We now have several hummingbirds and we enjoy watching their antics as we have our morning coffee.
As for the walk, well, I took a walk. In fact I took five walks through the cave, giving tours to school kids. The parking lot was filled with school busses all day. They even asked if Marilyn could possibly come over to help in the gift shop.
The end result was that Marilyn and I both ended up working all day. I hadn't done anything for the prior three days and Marilyn doesn't work at all, but yesterday was a day when they needed both of us.
One unsettling thing which happened during the day was that I received a phone call from Jennifer while between tours. She informed me that a young man from Monroe City was killed yesterday morning. He evidently was shot when the gun he was taking from his truck went off. We don't know any details yet, but are praying for Kevin and his large family, most of them friends of ours. Kevin was one of the young people we have known for years, since he was in high school when we first met him on a TEC weekend I was directing. (TEC is for Teens Encounter Christ)
Please keep him and his family in your prayers.
The young guides finally arrived after their school was out for the day. It was nice to see them as we felt that we could relax and go home.
Marilyn & I cleaned up a bit, put on some clean clothing and drove to the Mexican restaurant to have dinner with our friends.
We met Dennis & Sonja at the restaurant and Cathy soon arrived, but Steve was still out of town on business and would be too late to join us. Bummer!
We watched a little TV before going to bed but both of us were pretty tired after the day working. We slept with the windows open last night and the temperature only went down to 59 degrees. It was great sleeping for sure.
Today is a new day and I just can't wait to see what this day has in store.....
