Blue Bell Creamery
The “Little Creamery in Brenham” was founded in 1907. The name was changed to Blue Bell in 1930 after a wildflower that grows in the area and blooms in the summer. A 1930’s replica refrigerated delivery truck is parked out front. We toured the factory with Kathy, Norm, Lorna and Larry. After watching the mixing, flavoring, packing and freezing process our appetites were whetted for samples in the ice cream parlor. It was the best ever!
Also located in Brenham is The Monastery of St Clare. It is run by the Franciscan Poor Clare nuns who raise and sell miniature horses. They maintain about 60 horses. The 2-5 day folds were so cute. The full grown horses stand about 34 inches and their life span is 20-30 years.
