Bon Jour,
After staying in Barcelona 5 nights, I came to Provence part of France. First, few things about Barcelona. The new hostel I stayed in was much better than the animal farm. This old lady, Rosa, and her daughter have a private house which they converted into a hostel. I rented one of her rooms. Cost was the same as the animal farm - about 25 dollars per night. But, I had my own room and there were only three other rooms for rent but there was only one other person. It was very quite and comfortable. Rosa was incredibly kind. On my first morning, I woke up to see the table full of cookies, coffee and other breakfast food. She reserved a place for me. Then, she let me use her internet in her apartment since I couldn't find an internet cafe. We had only met for few minutes and she let me be in her apartment for about 30 minutes by myself while she cleaned outside - i appreciated her trustworthiness. On my last morning there, she was upset I couldn't eat breakfast there. While I was stepping out, she handed me a bag full of juices and cookies. I have posted her picture. If anybody travels to Barcelona and needs a place to stay, Rosa is the best person to visit.
On my last day at Barcelona, I went to Park Guell. Inside the park is where the famous architect, Antoni Gaudi, lived. His house became a museum. I went inside. I didn't know much about Gaudi but seeing his work taught me new things.
Then, I went to La Sagradia Familia. Gaudi's grand building is still being built. It was under construction but I went inside anyway.
Then, I went to Picasso museum. There were 3600 works of Picasso. I probably looked at every one of them. Needless to say, I was there for sometime.
On the way out, I met Esther Arias. She is an artist and has a gallery near the Picasso Museum. While she was working, I struck a conversation with her. She paints contemporary art and her work is sold for - ranging from 4 thousand dollars and up. She told me about her favorite work - the red painting behind her - about 9/11. She explained the emotions she felt while painting and how she reflected those emotions by using colors on the canvas. It was an interesting conversation - one I will remember.
Then, I visited Port Olimpic.Walked around by the water. There was a casino there and a poker game was going on. I was very tempted to go in and take some euros from Spaniards but, I declined. Some other time.
All the best soccer players in the world got together to play a charity game for tsunami victims. Guess where they were playing? Barcelona. Guess when? Tuesday night - my last night in barcelona. Needless to stay, I went. I saw the famous players from my earlier soccer game - beckham, etc.. plus Henry, Ronaldinho and the famous turkish player - Hakan Sukur.
Now, I am in Arles, France. I came here to go horseback riding to see nature but the wind is really strong. It is even difficult to walk outside without going backwards. It was like this yesterday and today. If the wind continues, I will leave tomorrow. I was thinking of staying here for a week to enjoy nature and roman ruins but we'll see.
Next is Cinque Terre, Italy. I heard it is picturesque. I want to see some nature. After seeing some major cities, I want to relax to the noises of roosters cooing.
Dont forget to write a message to me.
