Today was a very early start, probably our earliest yet! Sarah had opted to take the flight with about half the group whereas I took the bus with the other half. Sarah had to get up and be ready to leave at 4am to catch the flight to Flores from Guatemala City. I left at 530am and by the time we stopped for breakfast at 730am Sarah had already arrived in Flores as the flight took only 45 minutes! We continued our journey and stopped at some more ruins where they also had a Jade museum with all the different types and colours of jade as it is a stone local to the area. We carried on and stopped for lunch at a restaurant right on the river, where the fish ate all the left overs including chicken!! There were also turtles in one one of the ponds. After several more hours in the bus we eventually crossed over to the island of Flores and met up with everyone else, by which time it was about 7pm so it had been a long day! The hotel also had a swimming pool which was nice, and was right on Lake Tikal. Sarah and I also had the best room in the hotel on the top floor with a balcony and a huge bay window overlooking all the lake.
