The Wailua river flows out to the ocean

Our flight to Honolulu wasn't until the afternoon so we had plenty of time to explore. We went to a state park on the Wailua River to see the Opaekaa Waterfalls. Across the street from the falls was another overlook with great views of the river and ocean. Next to the overlook was an ancient Hawaiian heiau (temple).

We got to the airport in plenty of time for our flight.
