Gill and Dave's trip to Peru and the Galapagos Islands travel blog

Wednesday 23rd April – We took an all day tour. First stop was Huaca (pyramid) del Sol and Huaca del Luna. These are one of the most important urban-ceremonial centres of pre-Inca society. The Moche culture developed between 100 and 800 AD, before Chimu and Chan Chan. The Huaca del Sol is thought to be the largest adobe building in the world.

Pretty difficult to take pictures because of its size.

When getting to Chan Chan which covers 14 square kms, it becomes even more difficult to capture the scale. You could spend days here rather than the short time a tour allows.

Gill has cooked a Canadian meal for the family we are staying with – should be interesting to see how that is received!
