Chris and Mel's Wild Adventures travel blog

Well, today we went to the Golden Triangle, the corner where Thailand, Laos and Myanmar (Burma) meet at the Mekong River. The Mekong River looked nothing more special than the Ohio River; if anything, filthier. We did not cross the boarder to Laos or Myanmar (mostly because Americans are not allowed to visit Myanmar), but had a great time watching the people simply live their lives. Mae Sai has remained largely unnoticed by tourism, so there were many locals trading from Myanmar and even China as it is only 120 km away. All in all, it was just very neat! Chris's favorite part fo the day was driving, as we rented a car. In Thailand you get to drive on the wrong side of the car, so he felt so special and a little dissoriented. We ended our day walking around the Chinag Rai Night Market, where we bought the most beautiful piece of art for our home. Well, off to bed before flying to Phuket tomorrow.
