Yesterday was a super nice day here in northeast Missouri, with the temperature reaching into the low 70 degree range. I showered and dressed after having our morning coffee, then walked over to the gift shop.
One of our new young tour guides was ready to be checked off so I followed her into the cave and listened as she gave me a tour. I made several suggestions but she did a nice job and I told Patty to "Put her to work." Now I just need to train a few guides for Cameron Cave and we'll be all set!
Marilyn cleaned and straightened things inside the RV while I set up our lawn furniture and pulled the grill from it's storage space in the basement. I helped Marilyn put clean sheets on the bed and she defrosted the fridge.
We were needing groceries pretty badly so we made the trip to the store and came away about $137.00 poorer than when we entered.
After unloading the groceries, I grilled some pork steak and we just chilled outdoors with a cold drink. The warm sunshine just about put me to sleep in the lounge chair. :)
Late in the afternoon we dressed in nicer clothing and drove to Quincy, Il for a visitation, at the funeral home, for the mother of a long time friend.
We have many friends in Quincy and we saw lots of people that we knew. We will be meeting with these good friends soon. Norb and Maggie asked us to join them for dinner at "Sprouts" restaurant. We talked and laughed and had a good time. It was nice to spend some time with them and we are looking forward to seeing them again. One note of interest is that the entire state of Illinois has banned smoking in the restaurants and it is so nice to be able to walk into a good restaurant and not have to walk through smoke to get to your table. I have always thought that having a no-smoking section in a restaurant is like having a no-peeing section in a swimming pool.
Marilyn and I had a nice drive back to the campground and arrived just before dark. We watched a little TV before going to bed and slept great all night. We had left the windows open last night and when we awoke this morning, the temperature was only 60 degrees inside which was 10 degrees warmer than outdoors. We had to turn on the furnace just long enough to take the chill off.
Yesterday was a good day and we sure look forward to today. I just can't wait to see what this day has in store.....
