I'm feeling a little better today, it is amazing what a good nights sleep can do for you (sorry Gav but i prefer my own room.... but i still love ya ), woke about 6am and just relaxed until the porters brought us a bowl of warm water, yep no showers now just warm water, a face washer and some soap. So after the a quick wash down it was out of the room to see what the new day would bring.
The breakfast was hot tea, porridge and egg on toast, the meals have been great so far and probably healthier than any i have had lately.
Surprisingly the body was not sore as i expected it to be, in fact i feel pretty damn good.
The funniest thing about Phakding are the pool tables, they are brought in by man power! They are flown in to Lukla and then people carry the parts to Phakding, we are talking about full size snooker tables here too not little pool tables like people have in their houses.
Packed fed and ready to go we hit the road at 9am, the trek was scheduled to take 3 hours we were in Monjo in about 2.5, not bad for newbies.
The altitude increase today was 200M, effectivly putting us back to the same hieght as Lukla. I am finding if i try to do anything quickly i am left gasping for air, i need to remember i am at alomost 3k's up!
We walked along the valley today, sometimes going up (yuck hard), sometimes going down (easy, stopped for a short break 20 mins out of Monjoas the final stretch was pretty much the whole 200 M we ahd to go up.
Finially we were there (thank the gods, yes any and all of them will do), we were ushered into the tea room and greeted with "Washie washie" which means come clean yuor hands in anti-bacterial solution before you eat, a good idea all things considered. a cup of tea was quickly followed by lunch.
The most inspiring part of todays trek was turning a corner to have a huge snow caped 6.6km high mountasin peak appear, the snow covered peak was sitting majestically above the clouds, i just hope the photos come out.
After lunch we had a short aclimitization walk, taking us up another 200M so we can start to get used to the altitude.
Simbul (head sherpa) again hgas organised me my own room (i love him more than Gavin now), Gavin was heard snoring by all those around him last night, thankfully i was well away from him and slept like a baby LOL.
The short walk today ended up takling us to 3100M you can feel the thin air as you walk and talk.
I went for another walk once we returned and found myself tsalking to a german couple who had friends here in Monjo, they had returned from Namche yesterday and explained the walk that i would encounter tomorrow.
we will walk along the river valley, crossing the river 3 times, the 3rd bridge is the largest and will also signal the end of the world as i know it, yep from here on it is all up hill. we will need to ascend 600m from that point really not looking forward to that at all.
Simbul has told me i may have to pay for a single room as we go higher, sometimes up to possibly $25 US, i think i will take it as i think sleep at this altitude is a must have.
Well tomorrow is another day and the road leads to Namche!!!!!!!!
