We left Amana, Iowa Thursday, April 17 and drove about 325 miles to York, Nebraska where we boondocked at Wal-Mart. We had a lot of driving to do to make Cheyenne, a total of 350 miles on Friday. We arrived in Cheyenne around 7 and checked in at the AB Campground.
This is a Good Sam park and we did get a 10% discount. It still cost us $30 a day, which is higher than we have been paying. It is a nice campground with all the amenities but it is not real roomy. We still have not been able to open the awning because of high winds but we have had beautiful sunny and cool days, which we loved.
Saturday we visited the historic old town of Cheyenne and had a great day shopping at a flea market and had a wonderful steak dinner at the Shadows restaurant. It was located in an old railroad depot and had some cool trains and also some huge cowboy boots that were cool.
Today we did a side trip and drove to the Rocky Mountains National Park in Estes Park, Colorado. It was absolutely beautiful. There was a ton of snow at the higher elevations and we went as far as we could before the roads were closed at about 10,000 feet. We made a snowman and tried to put him on the hood of our car but he just kept sliding off so we had to find another spot. :-) See the pictures and they will tell it all.
We are leaving in the morning heading toward Salt Lake City, Utah. I hope you enjoy the journal. We have been very busy exploring and this is the first minute I have had to post. More later from Utah.
