We made the drive down IH-10 to Van Horn and then US Highway 90 to Alpine for a few nights. We took some photos along the road to show everyone the sights. Near Marfa, we saw a US Government aerostat that was on the ground. These are large balloons that have look down radars to find airplanes trying to cross into the US at low altitudes. Look at the picture and how small the trucks nearby are. The Aerostats are usually tethered to the ground station at altitudes of 10,000 to 12,000 feet.
