Thanks Joanna for the note. No, there is no Holiday Inn here,
but some very neat places to stay - but without airconditioning. Have fun with La Mancha - Pam, Sandra and I are planning on seeing it the 9th of May.
We played hookey this morning.
We woke up early and decided that a jungle walk would be too muddy for us delicate people!! So I went out for a morning walk and found a crab colony beside our path to the beach.
We wanted some time off, enjoy the atmosphere of Puerto Viejo, and have a good leisurely breakfast!
So that is what we did! We slept in under our mosquito netting, had a nice shower (needed in the heat) and walked over to a neat place called "The Lotus Garden" for breakfast. The restaurant has a Chinese flavour to the decor with a garden at the back. Everything is open - no walls - so we had a table close to the garden. The restaurant is built with lots of beautiful hardwood and fine carvings.
It has a very laid-back atmosphere which included three local dogs (including a blind one) and a lazy cat.
The food was very good and I had my first delicious cup of green tea!
After that relaxing feeding time
we walked into town and into this internet cafe to do some updating.
The weather is gorgeous; the rain came again overnight and filled up all the potholes on the road! The message is to be careful where you walk,
especially when cars pass by us. This afternoon we are going on a chocolate tasting tour. We will see how they make it from the cocoa beans until the finished product and get to taste it!
Hope the chocolate does not melt.
Talk to you later.
Eke and Brian.
