After a couple of relaxing days at Elephant Butte State park we headed north to Albuquerque, NM. We will be spending the next week at Hidden Valley Resort which is our 'home park' ( that means we pay them an annual fee which allows us to stay here at no cost for 14 nights a year. It also gives us access to all Coast to Coast parks ) The campground is located at 6600 feet so it is a little cooler here. It has also been quite windy which the locals tell us occurs 365 days a year.

Back in 2002 we spent a couple of days here and managed to do a little bit of sight seeing. That brief visit found us wanting to come back to the area to spend some more time - so here we are. Today found us heading out on the Turquoise Trail National Scenic Byway. This roadway runs from the Albuquerque area (it starts in the town of Tijeras) to Santa Fe. It takes in Sandia Peak and several 'unique' small towns. Be sure and check out the pictures. If the weather cooperates - they are calling for winds up to 50mph and rain/snow on Wednesday & Thursday - we hope to do some more sight seeing. Fortunately Old Town Albuquerque has several museums that we are wanting to visit so the bad weather shouldn't find us 'stuck at home'.
