Getting ID and HermanusApr 8, 2008 |

| Hello friends and family, I am feeling a lot better; I've recovered from my heavy cold, and the repeat of the bleeding, I had in my sinuses two and a half years ago. I think the antibiotic prescription my doctor friend gave me for the cold was timely. I managed to deliver a note to a close friend who had some inacurate impressions of me pertaining to things that happened many years ago. Correcting that view has made me feel much better, and chased away the depression, enabling me to paint brighter pictures again. And now I'm becomming more prolific in getting my art work done again. The 2nd pic above, show the lines at the government office here, where you have to stand hours to get ID books, which takes a 6 months waiting period first. (I was lining up for Jenny's, but they wouldn't give it to me. I have to have a letter from her, from Australia first. Mine isn't ready yet either.) I also wanted to find out for the 4th time, if I could have my new South African Passport diverted to Bellville in Cape Town instead of being mailed to Ottawa or Toronto where it will be destroyed after 3 weeks! Last Sunday I drove my nephews Joel and Daniel down to Hermanus where Joel is working as a Draftsman. Its about 2 hours drive, very beautiful drive, by the ocean. We had a picnic by this spot. Unfortuately I missed the biggest waves. We plan to come earlier next time as there are great picture sites. Hermanus is one of the most sought after holiday destinations for eco-tourist and nature lovers. Home of the Southern Right whale it offers everything from whale watching to shark-cage diving, paragliding to golfing. See Hermanus website By the way, both Daniel (30)and Joel (28) would be very interested in coming to Canada on work permits if possible. Daniel has degrees in Math (I think) and extensive computer skills. Currently he does colour adjustment for printing in a newspaper setting. Well, I'd better get back to my Dad's drawings which I have half done now. I noticed your temperature was the same as ours last night, but ours goes up to 24 or so in the day. One area in the mountains had it down to -2l as of last night! Bye for now, and God Bless! Ruth |
