Today while some of the others went to golf, George and I visited Old Tubac, about an hour south of Tucson near Nogales.

It is a charming artsy town that was settled when the first non native people arrived in the late 1600's and by various assorted groups since then - mainly Spaniards and then Mexicans and finally Americans.

The community is full of shops and galleries and intersting buildings. Even then new buildings look "old" as soon as completed. There are lots of plazas and courtyards full of wonderful blooming flowers. The entire area is like a mini Canyon Road in Sante Fe.
