A Couch Potato Day
Apr 4, 2008
|Yesterday was a cool, damp day here in Hannibal. Marilyn & I had our morning coffee and then just straightened things up in the RV and took it easy for the entire day. This retirement sure is tough! :)
I did get out to mail my tax returns and to drive the route from Hwy 61 to the Cave and campground so that I could give directions to friends who are planning to visit us in a week or so. You know how it is. We lived in this area much of our lives and we know how to get around, the shortcuts, etc. But when it comes to street names, forget it! I just drive on them and don't know the names of the streets.
So I drove the route, writing down the names of the streets, where to turn, etc. Now I think that Jack & Marge will have no problem finding us. We look forward to seeing these good people again.
We had a note from other good friends, Heinz & Irene, from Canada. They told us of one of their friends who reads our blog each day so I will say hello and welcome to Liz & Rudy. We are happy to have you on board to share our adventures. By the way, Liz, please give Heinz & Irene a big hug for us. They are wonderful friends!
Well, back to the drive to figure out the street names yesterday. Once I finished that I stopped at "Becky Thatcher's" restaurant to pick up two meals to go. That is a good place to eat except that they allow smoking and don't have a No-Smoking section. That bothers us so we don't go there to eat. So I stopped just long enough to pick up two roast beef dinners to go. They have all home cooked food and it is very good. Roast beef, potatoes and gravy, mixed veggies, breaded tomatoes, and a hot roll for $5.85.
That is a good deal!
By the time we finished our lunch, it was time for the St Louis Cardinals baseball game, so I went to the bedroom to watch the Cardinals beat the Rockies 3-0.
Once the game was over, we just vegged out for the rest of the day.
We did watch "Survivor" and then the remainder of "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?"
Thanks to that really big lunch, we weren't hungry at dinner time so we just ate some popcorn while watching TV.
I went back to bed to read more about the history of the Texas Rangers, reading until after 10:00 PM.
That was pretty much our activity for the day. I guess I should have said Lack of activity. :)
Saturday is supposed to be clear and sunny with temps in the mid 60's. Maybe that will be the day when we get out to take pictures around Hannibal, so that we can post them for you.
Today is a new day. Maybe we will see some sunshine today. In any case, I just can't wait to see what this day has in store.....
