Sunshine, taxes and manual labor
Apr 3, 2008
|Yesterday was a sunny day with a clear sky and warm temperatures. It was a cold night before that, though. We awoke to a frozen water hose. It was fine after about one hour or so, and we used the 12v water pump and our own on board water supply until the sun warmed the water hose enough to thaw the ice.
Marilyn & I had our morning coffee and did the internet thing, then drove into town to get our haircuts. Once we were all trimmed we drove on out to Wal-Mart where I picked up my ammended tax returns. Now I have to pay some money to the Federal and the State. We have already received our Federal tax refund so that part is ok.
We stopped on the way home to have some lunch and ate too much. I wanted some veggies so we had lunch at Golden Corral. I should have just had a soup and salad but temptation got the best of me and I enjoyed the fried chicken, potatoes and gravy, carrots, corn and green beans. That would still have been ok but they had bread pudding and I had to try the cherry chocolate cake. We drove home all fat and happy. :)
Once we were back at the campground, I saw Jeff & Chuck and wandered over to speak with them. They were getting ready to move 11 pallets of rock, each small box weighing 60 pounds.
Jeff & Chuck had worked to help me out by burying our satellite cable and had helped out with my awning. Now I felt the urge to return the favor so I offered to help them with the rock. We had unloaded and moved 5 pallets before we ran out of room. I thought I would be so sore that I could hardly move this morning but I am ok.
After we finished that little chore, I took a shower and dressed in clean clothing for our traditional Wednesday evening dinner with friends.
As we drove up to the "El Vaquero" we saw Dennis & Sonja walking across the parking lot. They just returned from a vacation to Hawaii and we were anxious to hear about their trip.
Steve & Cathy arrived shortly after we sat down. We enjoyed lively conversation, lots of laughter, good food, great margaritas, and simply had a super good time.
Marilyn & I were home in time to watch the "American Idol" results and then the "Big Brother" show. We had recorded "Deal or No Deal" and will watch that tonight.
Jen called and visited for awhile. She likes to call us each evening to say "Good Night". What a wonderful daughter she is! Both of our daughters were wonderful kids and turned into our friends as they grew into adults. We have been blessed! Both, Kelly and Jennifer grew to be wonderful, loving, kind and compassionate young ladies. Jennifer put those character traits to good use in her chosen profession, as a nurse. We are so proud of her for the person she is.
Well, dear readers, I now have a hot cup of coffee in front of me, so it is time to get started on the day. I hope all of you have a wonderful day today. As for me, well I just can't wait to see what this day has in store.....
