Cross the Lachlan River to get to McDonalds!

Hamish and Lachlan join in Tee Ball with new friends at Parkes

I am typing away while the kids do the dishes!! It is quite painful listening to the arguments, but who knows. They might learn something!

Travelled from Swan Hill to Parkes today. Remember the Aussie movie 'The Dish'? Well the dish is in Parkes. Going to see it tomorrow on our way out of town.

The drive became more interesting as we drew closer to Parkes and saw hills and a bit of greenery. Some of the towns we went through were lovely despite seeming to be in the middle of nowhere.

We went through the 'Lachlan Valley' and took a photo of the 'Lachlan River'. After seeing the Lachlan River, hotel etc we saw McDonalds for the first time in quite a while. Lachlan was sure this was fate!

The road for the most part was long, straight and 'boring' according to the kids. We have commented quite a lot that the Nullarbor is actually more vegetated and treed than many of the places we have driven through.

Parkes is a fairly big town and we are staying at a (I was going to say nice, Todd says very average) c'van park - nowhere near the truck route!! It is quiet, we have grass and the toilet blocks are clean. We are learning not to book online en route; we now get to our destination and check out all the parks before choosing.

Up early tomorrow - (I was up at 5.45, Todd at 6.30 today (don't have heart failure mum!) We left Swan Hill at 8 am and plan to get going early tomorrow in order to get to the Hunter Valley about lunchtime. It is another ACCOR hotel so roll on tomorrow!!

Having a great time and eating lots of apples (usually quickly before we get to another fruit fly exclusion zone!). Goodnight David!(Smith that is)
