Summit Skyride

We made it here to Stone Mountain Ga. Thursday around 2:00 pm and lucked out and was given a site that looks out on the lake and over to Stone Mountain it's self. On the drive up I stayed on the Yellow and Orange Roads and we saw some very beautiful old homes a long the way and a couple nice little towns as well. I'm a firm believer if you want to see America, stay off the Blue Roads as much as possible.

We stopped for a break next to a gas station and I had a good conversation with two Good Ole Boy's from Georgia that were working on a old building. That's a good way to find out things about an area, just go to jabbering with folks, I'm long winded and nosey as well, according to Jane.

Today, Friday after we got our selves straightened out, we went to see the sight's. We went to the top of the mountain on the Summit Skyride. The mountain was formed some 285-300 million years ago from a bunch of Magma after the continents got done banging against one another, That's my definition of it, but it's close to what the park material had to say.

They have a Plantation set up here that was brought in from several areas around Georgia and all the building's date from 1783 to 1875 and they did a very good job of putting it all together. All the furniture dates back to the areas as well and there are a lot of very rare pieces.

There's quite a bit to see and do in the park, There is an 1940's Railroad that goes around the mountain that's a five mile loop. They have several thing's for children and adults to do and see. Tomorrow we are going to see the Antique Auto Museum and I'm going to go back up on top again, Jane said No Thanks, She didn't like the ride up and down, a little to high for her.

We are going to take a ride on a Stern Wheeler that's right across the lake from our site. They have some World War Two surplus amphibious vehicles here that you can ride out on the lake as well. The campground here is big and they have very nice facilities.

Well that's about it for today, I'll post again tomorrow to wrap up whats going on here at the park. Right now we are going to leave on Sunday and head on up to the top of Ga. but that could change, not sure yet.

Keep yourself safe and keep polishing the manners. Gummy..........OUT
