Unusually cold temperatures have eliminated some of the outdoor things we wanted to do here from the schedule. Instead we wandered Opryland Mills looking for bargains and revisited the Opryland Hotel. This spectacular hotel rivals any on the Las Vegas strip - minus the gambling, of course. We felt fortunate to stay here once. We left our wintry home that january and walked into this hotel and breathed in the warm humid air and all the plant smells and the healing began. The "lobby" of this hotel is a winding river surrounded by plants both large and small. One can take a boat ride down the river past the shops and restaurants hidden between the greenery. Waterfalls gush and fountains squirt. Attached to the hotel is a huge convention center and many ballrooms. This would be a super spot for a wedding or any major celebration. Instead we geezers wandered around in our jeans and T-shirts getting some exercise and savoring the green beauty and warmth before we return to the really cold winds of Chicagoland.
