Today we traveled from Vicksburg to Gulfport. Right now, we're planning on staying in this area for a week. There appears to be a lot to do here. It's late now, so I'll post more tomorrow to this same entry, as I did on the Vicksburg entry.

We checked out the Gulfport area today. Went along US90 by the beach to see what kind of disaray Katrina's damage might be in. Lots of construction going on. Lots of empty slabs of concrete also. Several new buildings. We shopped in several buisnesses in town, and that's about it. Didn't really see any pictures that needed taking, but maybe tomorrow. I hear there's a lighthouse in Biloxy that is very photogenic. We started that direction today, but didn't make it that far, so tomorrow for sure.

Today we got back onto US90 (in the car) and traveled the coast over to Biloxi. We went to the Hard Rock Casino, which has a Hard Rock Cafe, and several others, including a Ruth's Cris, inside. This is the nicest Casino we've seen on this trip. Of coarse, we had to give the machines two or three dollars just to say we had been there. We had a $10 hamburger for lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe.
On the way over, you can see what kind of force Katrina had by the picture above of what was once a marina. Looks like it wiped out nearly everything along the beach. Most of the debris is cleaned up, but very few are built back yet. Of coarse, the Casino's are complete. You can also see two light houses, one damaged and one not, or at least the Biloxi Lighthouse has been repaired if it was damaged. The damaged lighthouse is located at the marina. Nothing at the marina has been repaired or replaced yet. These light houses are a lot smaller than I was expecting.

Did not post anything yesterday, because all we did was laundry and clean up the motorhome. This afternoon, we went to a movie in Gulfport. Saw Drillbit Taylor with Owen Wilson. It wasn't too bad. Pretty funny!
We plan to move on out of here tomorrow. Going on to Montgomery, Alabama for three days. I'll make another update when we get settled in and stuff uploaded to our new laptop, which we bought today. It may take awhile. Talk to ya from Montgomery.
