Eiffel Tower

Paris from the Tower

Arc de Triomphe

After a leisurely breakfast we headed off to explore Paris. Getting on the open decked bus we travelled around the main spots of Paris. We collected our bus close to Le Louvre, heading off to see Notre Dame. Then it was through the streets of Paris to see just about all the major tourist spots. Driving down the Champs Elysées was pretty cool as was the Arc de Triomphe. We stopped at the Eiffel Tower and of course we had to climb it :-). We only went to the second level, climbing the stairs, not taking the lift, as the visibility was somewhat limited from the top. We probably spent a couple of hours there before heading off to see the rest. We walked through the grounds of the Louvre but will visit there later in the week. We were particularly impressed with one of the bridges that had amazing statues and elegant lighting.

We found a rather nice sidewalk cafe close to Le Louvre and had lunch there, ordering it in French of course!

This turned out to be a long day as we stayed out until dark, travelling on the open deck bus to see the lights of Paris, including the Champs Elysées, Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower by night. Finally staggered home, cold but elated, to a glass of wine and a few liqueurs to warm the insides.

We are really enjoying Paris!!!!
