| We checked out of the Elephant Walk but left our backpacks there until we picked up our rental car from the airport to see if we could find a better deal on a rental car from Alamo. It was a 2 km walk to the airport. We managed to get a better deal on a small Fiat Palio for R199 per day with 150km per day included. We wanted to drop the car off in Nelspruit, south of here. They waived the R300 drop off fee for us as well. Nice. We would return to the airport later today to pick up the car, as it wasn't ready yet. So off we walked back to the center of town to shop for some jeans for Al, as we needed a pair for our return trip home. On our way past the tourist information center the wart hog family was back so we stopped to watch and take more photos. They are cute in a way. I like them best when they run because their little tails stick straight up like a flag. That still makes me laugh each time I see it. Once we walked back to the airport, we picked up the car and drove to the famous Hans Merensky Golf course before driving to Al Leroy's house (Al's Mom's youngest brother) We met him and his wife, Mary Ann. Pleasure! Our room is fantastic! Air con and all. We had a wonderful meal together with some great South African wine and became acquainted. Al and I were made to felt comfortable right away and I believe Mary Ann and Uncle Al are feeling a bit more at ease. We really didn't know what to expect nor did Mary Ann and Al's uncle. Al didn't ever get to know his uncle very well while growing up since his uncle lived so far away. Mary Ann admitted to feeling a little paranoid about the visit when we had e-mailed them. Uncle Al admitted he couldn't remember whom Al was which didn't make Mary Ann feel any better. They were both really nervous about the visit and weren't real keen about it. We sure had a good laugh about it all and following dinner went to bed early. Glorious bed!!! |
