Lovely port town of Parati

Just realised what the date is, although fortunately it doesn´t seem to be a big thing in brazil. If i don´t meet a handsome brazilian in the next 5 and a half hours i think it´s gonna be another valentines night on my own. Pull out the violins everyone.

I am now in a little town 4 hours south of Rio on called Parati (thanks to jane for recommendation). It is a lovely old port town like something out of a graham greene novel. All steamy tropical heat, cobbled streets, whitewashed buildings and that slight tropical smell of rotting and decay in the air. Have been on an old schooner to visit a few nearby beaches and islands, to a beautiful beach called Trinidade - that has restaurants/bars at the end of the beach over the water - and to local waterfall (where luckily there was also a bar). Actually so far it seems you can buy a beer just about anywhere in brazil!

Leaving tomorrow for Sao Paulo. It´s all a bit hot here and i´m getting sun burnt at the beach, so I´m going back to the interior. I am heading inland to a huge wetlands area called the Pantanal where i have heard reports of fantastic wildlife including the big and scary ananconda. Hopefully i will live to tell the tale.

PS. Can you all bug michelle about adding photos to the website. She has the latest CD.
