Good day yesterday. We had lunch at KC's café which was absolutely fantastic. Then we went shopping and bought a Mexican rug, which is now in our bedroom, and a nodding chicken!!! I'll take a picture for you...honestly it is more tasteful than it sounds and lots of people have them in San Felipe. It is made from wrought iron and a rock!!! The only thing we didn't manage to get is a painting but we will have a look while we are here - there is a Mexican art and craft shop at the resort so we might get lucky there.
We got up early today - Steve did his usual Leaving day trick of waking up early, ready to get on the road!!! Had a chat with Lana, Joe, Bill, Irene, Bobbie, Brian and Elaine before we left. Was really quite sad to leave both San Felipe and the friends we have made. Bill is hoping to get up to Wyoming to see his family next summer so we are hoping to plan a visit to him into our trip and we tried to persuade Lana and Joe to come to England to visit us. Any of them would be welcome any time. They are a great bunch of people and made our stay so much more enjoyable. We loved it there and would love to return someday. Elaine and Brian have invited us to stay on their land when we visit Vancouver Island next May. Apparently, they have a house with some land and they have a hookup so we will definitely visit them - another great couple. Elaine suggested that we drive up Vancouver Island and then get a ferry up to Prince Rupert which will save us driving the same route twice - up to Alaska and back - so we will look into that. Have looked on the map and it looks like a great trip.
The journey to Ensenada was uneventful really. We stopped at the military inspection post just before our turn off to Ensenada and they came onboard and checked we didn't have anything we shouldn't have. We have been stopped quite a few times but this guy did a very thorough job. The scenery en route was very beautiful. We had to drive over the mountains which were like desert until we went over the top and then the other side was lush green, which was stunning.
Unfortunately, I missed a lot of it because I was asleep in bed. I feel fine in myself but have been so tired the past week and not sure why. Today, I could barely keep my eyes open...new concept for me! Haven't slept so much in ages and these past few days, I have been sleeping more than Steve which is unheard of and virtually impossible - or so I thought!!!
Found the place in Ensenada without any problem but it was raining heavily and we were a bit miserable that we had left bright sunshine in San Felipe this morning!! Checked in and the resort is really nice. It is primarily a hotel but has retirement homes and an RV park too. There are only 3 other RV's here so we have a nice view of the bay and ocean. There is a pool, bar and restaurant over by the hotel and a hot tub on the RV park (there is also a pool, but it is closed at the moment). We also have a laundry but thanks to Rosie and Bobbie, we might not need to use it!
We found our spot and parked but then I noticed that instead of 30amp or 50 amp outlets there was only a 15 amp outlet and we had nothing to plug into that. Chatted to a couple here who are also from Washington State, Randy and Stasia and then went to Walmart - Oh yes, Ensenada has a Walmart!!! Steve bought an extension lead with 4 sockets so that we can watch a dvd tonight but when he went for a sleep, he decided that we need the fan so he is currently creating an adapter from a large 3-pin to a small 3-pin. He has used the cord and plug from our spare heater...it's all fun, this RVing lark!!!
Tomorrow we will go to the office and upload this and then have an explore round the resort. Ensenada hasn't inspired us much - it is definitely not San Felipe!! It is basically a city and we just aren't city fans, but it will do for a few days before we go back to the USA. There are some wineries just north of here so we might visit those and also have an explore along the coast - Steve's first experience of the Pacific Ocean so he wants to dip his foot in!!! I guess it all depends what the weather is like. More rain and we might as well stay around here and have a lazy day.
Oh well, time to see if Steve's clever contraption works....
Yes it did work and everything is running fine!!! What a clever chap!!!!
Having problems uploading photos but will add ones of Bob and Rosie's house when I can...it really is beautiful!
