Taiwan's East Coast

7 bridges

A very windy day on the island!

Ahhhh, time for the spa!

Another day of hiking, treking, and stairs made for a tough drive down the East Coast of Taiwan. But there was so much to see that you can't stay in the car the whole time. We stopped at monastaries built into caves and at a big bridge (actually 7 bridges) that went out to a blistering windy island. We climbed 1000 stairs to see temples and felt the ocean breeze on our faces...it was quite a drive!

After a day like that, I decided to splurge on a nice spa hotel. My hotel was up in the hills and I spent endless hours in their hot springs. The thing is, you stay in as long as you can take...but this water is REALLY hot and the minerals literally suck the toxins out of your skin, so staying in the hot springs is hard work. It leaves you exhausted, but any aches in pains are soon gone and you realize all those "painful" hours in the baths are well worth it.

It was a nice little treat and after I was ready to keep moving through Taiwan.
