Greeted by coyotes at Anza Borrega Desert State ParkJan 17, 2008

Anza Borrego is gorgeous! I'm staying in the Borrego Palm Canyon campground, space 36. While I was talking to Holly the park ranger I saw two coyotes come by not 40 feet away! A slow approaching car made them nervous and they took off running. I've also seen hummingbirds, antelope squirrels and big carpenter ants and some birds I haven't been able to identify yet. I took a short walk to the Visitor's Center after talking with my Dad and lazing in the warm afternoon sun in a camping chair. Tomorrow I'll do one hike from the campground and then drive to another couple of short ones. Nothing like the 8 mile I did in Joshua Tree yesterday in the cold wind. I think I'll have Internet access tomorrow and will post more before I forget everything I've seen and done on the last 48 hours. I'm getting pretty good at posting from the iphone though...
