Parlow Family Travels Off to China and Thailand!

Thailand, here we come! Nov 22, 2001

And so, our time in China has come to an end. It's been a fascinating journey, full of unexpected twists, annoyances and delights. We are all a little different, a little older, a little wiser and a little more confident in our ability to carry on in the face of difficulties. We have returned to an appreciation for the basics of life -- a good meal, a comfortable bed, an interesting book. We have learned to live amiably in small spaces. Adrian and Robin have grown in stature and in confidence; they have learned the indefinable art of communicating without a mastery of the language. They have seen the inequities of life up close and have come to understand and appreciate the advantages they have.

Much has changed since we left Canada 12 weeks ago; the world is a different place. Faced with unfamiliarity, we have missed our friends and family; we have been grateful for the opportunity to communicate through this website and via email.

And so, on to Thailand for 5 weeks of rest and relaxation and the luxury of staying in one place for awhile!
