I first heard about Riverwalk in 1988 when a colleague came to San Antonio for a conference. "You just have to see it," she said. Okay, I figured it was really nice, like Battery Park or downtown Reno. Well, folks, you just have to see it. It's nothing like anywhere else. You climb down a flight of stairs, and walk along the river one story below the street. It is gorgeous, and almost magical. The pictures do not do it justice. The Alamo is a living museum, with so many artifacts and first hand accounts of life before the last confrontation at the mission. It is in the heart of the city, I guess the city was built around the mission. The gardens are lovely, and much of the original structure is still in place. We were fortunate to meet someone who took a picture of us. Again, the pictures do not do it justice.
