Mexico Bound! travel blog

Rare cactus growing inside itself.

Day 3...Today we awoke to sunshine and the small of the Pacific. From here on out we are in group one traveling as the "butt" most of the time.

Today we drove in the sunshine and into the "bad lands" about 113 miles to our first camp. We were required to get fuel, as we go two days without it, and paid $1.82/gal for diesel (Ya hoo!). The desert was just the most unique and beautiful, as the recent rains made everything green! They kept telling us we were seeing a "first time" for these conditions this time of year. Our camp, a working ranch called Santa Ynez, was a dry camp with wagon train style circle. After set-up a few of us drove down to the cave paintings. A self guided deal with not mucho info...It was fun and beautiful none the less. For dinner we enjoyed...a home cooked mexican meal...go figure?! It was AWSOME! Then a campfire. We awoke to 46 degrees in the camper...Brrr! We survided anyhow.
