Chuck & Jan - 2008 & 2009 travel blog

"They" say that after weather, the three most popular topics of conversation are sex, politics and religion. I offer the following:

"May it please the gods, no more snow and ice til the effing politicians get more snow removal equipment on the roads!"

Actually, the snow removal guys did a super job. There was a lot of snow when we woke this morning, and the weather channel, and the road reports didn't look promising. We debated about staying in Idaho Falls, but realized that it could be about three days til the predicted blizzard came and went.

We decided to chance it, and found that the roads weren't too bad. We travelled at about 70 kph for about three hours, then hit a miniblizzard with almost no visibility for about a half mile. No real problem. Got up to about 80 for a couple more hours, then out of the bad stuff, and in to wet roads. Used up the best part of a gallon of washer fluid, and then we were home free. Made it as far as Fillmore for the night.

We haven't filled out the "itinerary" part of the program, since we don't really have one. We'll just drift along day to day. The basic plan is January in Arizona, February in California, then up the west coast as the weather improves. Over to the island, then home some time in April.

I've read a couple of comments on this site, and appreciate them, but haven't figured out how to reply yet, so if you have comments, I'd love to hear from you, but send them to my regular email address - cpszuch@shaw.ca - if you would. I'll try to answer.
