20,000 leagues under the sky, 2004- travel blog

Herculeneum was amazing, I'm not going to write much about it, I think the photos can do the talking, and I'm desperately trying to catch up about a weeks worth of hectic travelling. To me Herculeneum wasn't so much a ruin but parts of a preserved past so intact I could almost feel like people were living there yesterday. My main regret was visiting in winter when daylight hours are so short that I had to rush around to see everything with time to spare to see Pompeii too. I think I managed to go into every open building although many are closed at various times as they are being worked on or further excavated.
