Mathis Motor Inn & RV Park in Mathis, Texas - Nov 29, 2007

We hated to leave this morning but we are on a roll and want to get to Mission a day or so ahead of reporting to work on the 1st so we were off and rolling again. Tonight we landed at the Mathis Motor Inn & RV Park in Mathis, Texas. I can tell from just looking at the place that I'm not going to recommend it to anyone. It isn't well kept and some of the units in the park don't even have windows! But, since it is getting dark, we are stuck.

We got all set up and started to watch television - this is not a place we want to go for a long walk! Mary started to smell gas or something that smelled as bad as rotten eggs. It was coming from outside so we went up to the office and reported the smell and asked them to call the gas company. We also told them that we were going to move to the other end of the campground. So, we put things away and moved up toward the street. Although they told us they called the gas company and they were sending someone out, we never saw them show up. Mary told Lee it is probably a meth lab on the property and so they aren't afraid of the gas smell! The person in the trailer where it smelled the worst, just stayed inside so maybe that was the meth house. Anyway, it is such an unlovely place and we would highly recommend that you not stay here!
