Spot at Surf City

Our 'friend' who had to race to get here before us, peels out of the RV park half an hour before we leave, so we don't have to worry about him being on our tail!

We will be following Hwy 17 past Jacksonville to the coast, where we plan to stay overnight around Surf City. It is not a large distance today; Steve & Connor both have a nasty sinus cold. We want to keep moving, so if we get further south and closer to the coast, the weather is warmer and we want to follow the coastline. And this afternoon the Grey Cup is on tv; we need to be parked and ready for that, even though BC is not playing!

The area we drive through today seems to be very poor; lots of yards have old appliances and cars strewn all about. If a person was looking for old cars from the '50's and '60's, this would be a great place to come. Most of the cars we see are in poor shape, rusted out and grass growing all around, but they could be restored to their former glory with some elbow grease and money.

Surf City is a definite summer town, right on the Atlantic and surf shops everywhere. Most stores are seasonal only, fortunately the RV park is open year round. Most of the spots in the park are occupied by people who either live their year-round or have their RV parked their year-round. We get a very nice spot backing onto the waterway that leads to the ocean. There is a large dock, so the boys can try their fishing skills and Steve sets up the dish to watch the game. A leisurely afternoon so our 'patients' can get better.
