today was a large travel day and only travel type pictures:
airplanes, city buildings ( via bus rides) and several characteristic traffic jams ( even on taking the bus to the airplane for heaven's sake hten queing for take off. We were concerned when we saw a 747 pass us on theright ... Who knew!
So -the gang was a tad happier since we travelled a bit through Shanghai enroute to Suzhou ( silk city). They saw the street vendors, and more street shopping scapes they have been lacking so far. However - the bus did not stop. We shop dec 6th and 9th ( today is wed 5 dec).
Landmarks for us today was a beautiful garden and understanding the design features and a lesson in relaxation. A couple got locked in after closing they were relaxing so much in the coffee shop. But the guide rescued them and we carried on to the tour of the silk factory. The tour started with a lesson on silk worm lifec cycles adn we watched both humans and automatic machines make silk quilts.
We do have a few photos of this part of the trip but will upload them either tomorrow or the next. ( technology here is not high speed and we have to install our camers software) The most costly part of the trip has been internet service.
Interesting group dynamics which are new to Chris and I - we don't usually do organized tours. Most are great and funny ( essentials in a non-english speaking country).
See you on the 11th. Might not be too awake, but that GIS dude will get my mojo running!!!
Chris says hello. Liz he was at the top, I will get another picture. He and Cathy can tell you how to start training for the trek.
