Today we leave Beijing and our guide, Ivy, for a two-hour flight to Shanghai. After meeting our new guide, Lili, we board our bus and travel two hours to her hometown of Suzhou. Lunch is followed by a visit to the centuries old Lingering Garden and the Leaning Pagoda at Tiger Hill. The Leaning Pagoda was built several hundred years before Piza...probably the same "low bid" contractor.
As we left the Pagoda area, Ray was approached by 2 giggling Chinese young ladies who probably have never seen "westerners" up close and believe we are all movie actors...they politely asked to have their pictures taken...with "Robert Redford" ?
Finally, we arrive at the Holiday Inn in Suzhou, very nice, to relax, refresh and get ready for dinner. After dinner we relaxed in the bar with a glass of wine and listen to a local group playing western music.
COMMENT: All of our meals are similar, seated at large, round tables with "lazy Susans", where the wait staff places any number of family style bowls of familiar and not-so-familiar dishes.
