Dan's Birthday party
Nov 27, 2007
|Yesterday was an awesome day! We had clear skies, bright sunshine, and a temp of 70 degrees. It was so perfect that I felt like a kid again. I know, that is dangerous! :)
Marilyn and I had our coffee indoors and then got busy so that we could get our chores done and enjoy the day.
I took the trash to the dumpster, even though they pick up trash twice a week, because we didn't want it around for another 24 hours or so.
I had to go to the bank to get some cash for our trip back to Missouri, buy a few items at the HEB grocery store, and fill a propane bottle.
I began by stopping at Gilbert's place to see if they needed anything from the store. Gilbert didn't need anything but we stood and talked for nearly 45 minutes. Then I stopped at the site of Dan & Pat, for the same reason. Pat asked me to pick up some potato salad at the deli, for her. I visited with Dan & Pat for awhile and finally was leaving when my cell phone rang. It was Marilyn calling to ask me if I had already been to the grocery store. When I replied that I hadn't even left the resort yet, she said "You found someone to talk to didn't you!"
I decided to just go get her and take her along. By the time we did the bank thing and made our trip to the grocery store, then drove to the propane gas company, The gate was closed and a sign said they had gone to lunch. So we drove back to the resort, knowing that I had wasted so much time dinking around that I would now have to make another trip for propane. About an hour later I did manage to get the propane tank filled, installed and connected. On this trip back to town for propane, I had the sunroof open, the back windows open and listened to Willy Nelson and Jimmy Buffet with the volume turned up loud. The perfect weather, the freedom of our lifestyle, and the loud music made me feel like a kid again. :)
Once I returned to the RV it was time to get ready for the birthday party at Dan's place.
He grilled brats and hamburgers, we took Marilyn's great sweet and sour beans, there was home made potato salad, chips and dip, cheese and crackers, wine, beer, soda, and chocolate cake and ice cream for dessert. It was great! We met two new folks, Ken & Kaye, from Pennsylvania. They are here for the first time and now feel part of the group.
Once the sun went down the temp dropped considerably so we broke up the party in the dark, and went back to our home on wheels.
We didn't think about turning the furnace on when we went to bed, because it was so comfy inside. I awoke around 2:30 AM, took a look at the temp, saw that it was 64 degrees inside, and turned the furnace on. We slept great the rest of the night.
This morning the sky is clear once again, the sun is shining brightly, and the temp is supposed to reach 79 degrees. The "gang" is going to Mexico for some shopping and to have lunch at "Garcia's". Gilbert & Louise will pick us up at 10:00 AM this morning.
Yesterday was an awesome day and today has promise. You know me, I just can't wait to see what this day has in store.....
