Jill and Tom's 2007 travels travel blog

Mesa Verde NP preserves a civilization that lived in the area from 800 - 1300 AD. A fascinating part of the history of this country that neither of us knew much about. It is still not known why they suddenly left the area, but they left behind remnants of a civilization that is fascinating to explore. Cliff houses, petroglyphs, ceremonial kivas and so much more. We spent two days enthralled by the scenery and history of this area.

And we were able to stay in the national park lodge. OK, it was the last two nights of the season, they had reduced the price sinfully low and most other amenities were already shut. But we did not care. We were just glad to be able to stay in great accomodation and not have to drive the 25 miles to and from the park entrance each day!
