Ouray - a small mountain town with a lot of charm held us captive for a few days. Known for it's ice climibing, which wasn't happening at the time as there is no ice yet, we stayedfor the short hikes and a trip to the thermal pools. Oh, and it's also the northern point of the million dollar highway. Now whether it's called that because many many years ago,it cost a million dollars to build,or that the views around every corner, and there are many, are million dollar ones, it's a stunning drive and gives you a strong feeling of the granduer of the Rockies.

Durango is a much bigger town, wealthy and attracts a different type of tourist with it's narrow gauge railway. Nonetheless, it was a great stopover town on our way to Mesa Verde and the $2 micro brews at the brewery next to our hotel wasn't dissapointing at all.
