Jill and Tom's 2007 travels travel blog

Pennsylvania is a beautiful state and has a lot going for it, but finding a place to buy a beer is very tricky. Oh, you can buy two cases pretty easy, but if you just want a six pack, gas up, cuz you've got some driving to do. And every local knows exactly what you are doing - "looking for beer, are ya?" was asked very often of us. Forget wine or liquor, we didn't even want to think of the complications involved with those two items.

The signs on the road did not let us forget that we were in "God's county", so we assumed that since pizza is an import to "God's Country", it's OK to sell beer there. So that's where we went.

Raging campfires at night made the beer taste that much more special. Must have been a convention of wood cutters at the park the previous weekend and they all left stockpiles of burnable material for us - we gratefully obliged.

Jill did get to see several Amish family's, their farms and the ubiquitous horse and black buggy much to her delight. Even purchased a few apples from an Amish farmstand one day. But we know nothing more about their way of life than we did before, except that it is truly amazing in this day to live a life such as they do.

Our second visit to Pennsylvania was as interesting as the first. We'd visit again, but we'll bring our own beer...
