Florida to Illinois July 2007 travel blog

We needed to spend a night in Louisiana to ensure we could, by Lee and Lysa Rules add another sticker on the RV. We selected Lake Bruin State Park because it was only 4 hours from New Orleans and we had tickets to fly to Maryland for Lysa's sister Linda's 50th birthday bash. It was yet another truly lovely state park. We Friday riding our bikes around the lake and drooling over some of the lovely lake homes all at pretty reasonable prices. We pretty much decided there and then that what we'd really like is some lake front property. After our great ride, we went into town to mail some packages and find a laundromat. We were successful on the packages, but had to travel to the next town to do laundry. We found a very run down place in a neighborhood we were not sure we belonged in, but it was empty and the machines worked, and you gotta love being able to do five loads of laundry on two hours.

The next day we began the arduous journey to Maryland for Linda's party. We had been telling her for weeks that we couldn't possibly make it. But when I saw her face and both of burst out into tears, it made the 4 hour drive and 8 hour flight worth it. The party was amazing; we even had a surprise treat fro us when Frankie and Tina showed up. It was the first time since Benita's wedding we'd all been together for a good occasion. It was lovely.
